Nascida em Lisboa, em 1977, Sofia Salazar Leite licencia-se em Arquitetura na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, em 2001.

A pintura e o desenho surgem na sua vida desde muito cedo, por influência do seu avô materno, com quem mantinha uma relação de grande proximidade. Entre 1993 e 1999, completa os cursos de Desenho e de Pintura na Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes e, mais tarde, o curso de Fotografia Digital no Instituto Português de Fotografia.

Inicia a sua atividade profissional em Amesterdão, em 2001, tendo regressado posteriormente a Lisboa, onde tem vindo a conciliar, de forma complementar e multidisciplinar, a Arquitetura e as Artes Visuais.

Em 2017, assinala os 25 anos como artista plástica com a exposição individual de pintura GESTOS DA VONTADE, na Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes.

Apresenta-se de novo a solo no Teatro Thalia, em 2019, com a exposição RETRATOS DE NÓS, onde aproveita o cenário inigualável das antigas ruínas para redesenhar o vazio e conceber na íntegra o espaço expositivo, explorando as tensões entre contentor e conteúdo e fazendo dialogar diretamente a Pintura, a Arquitetura e o Desenho.

Em 2022, está representada na Feira Internacional de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea “Arte in Nuvola”, em Roma.

A exposição AVESSO DOS AFETOS, que agora apresenta, é o resultado do trabalho desenvolvido ao longo dos últimos 3 anos, que tem vindo a testar as fronteiras entre a abstração e a figuração através de relações materiais, cromáticas, formais e semânticas. Num processo dialético, em constante mutação, ensaia a temática da Humanidade e sugere espaços povoados por pessoas, sentimentos e emoções.

Born in Lisbon, in 1977, Sofia Salazar Leite graduated in Architecture at the Faculty of

Architecture of Lisbon Technical University in 2001.

Painting and drawing appeared early on in her life, through the influence of her maternal grandfather, with whom she enjoyed a very close relationship. Between 1993 and 1999, she completed the courses in Drawing and Painting at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, and later the course in Digital Photography at the Portuguese Institute of Photography.

She began her professional activity in Amsterdam, in 2001, subsequently returning to Lisbon, where she has been combining Architecture and Visual Arts, reconciling them in a complementary and multidisciplinary fashion.

In 2017, she marked the 25th anniversary of her activity as a visual artist with an individual exhibition of her painting entitled WILFUL GESTURES, at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes.

She held another solo exhibition entitled PORTRAITS OF US, at Teatro Thalia, in 2019, where she took advantage of the unique scenario of the old ruins to redesign the empty area and fully create her own exhibition space, exploring the tensions between container and content and establishing a direct dialogue between Painting, Architecture and Drawing.

In 2022, she was represented at the International Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art – “Roma Arte in Nuvola” – in Rome.

The exhibition INSIDE OUT AFFECTION, which she is currently presenting, is the result of the work that she has developed over the last three years, in which she has been pushing the boundaries between abstraction and figuration though material, chromatic, formal and semantic relationships. In a constantly changing dialectical process, she analyses the theme of Humanity and suggests spaces that are inhabited by people, feelings and emotions.
